Fiesta San Antonio is San Antonio's Biggest April Attraction!

April 15-17 is the first weekend of Fiesta San Antonio, a 10-day, citywide celebration to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle for San Jacinto. With over 100 different events, it's the biggest party and greatest community benefit in the state of Texas.

History of Fiesta
In 1891, a group of ladies decorated horse-drawn carriages, paraded in front of the Alamo, and pelted each other with flower blossoms. The Parade was organized to honor the heroes from the battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto. That original "Battle of Flowers" parade became an annual event and has grown into a multi-cultural community celebration unlike any other in our country. From its small beginnings, Fiesta San Antonio has grown into an elaborate ten-day celebration featuring over 150 events, including a parade where floats really float down the San Antonio River. But Fiesta Isn't All San Antonio Has to Offer
San Antonio captures the spirit of Texas. Now the eighth largest city in the United States, the city has retained its sense of history and tradition, while carefully blending in cosmopolitan progress. The city has always been a crossroads and a meeting place. Sounds and flavors of Native Americans, Old Mexico, Germans, the Wild West, African-Americans and the Deep South mingle and merge. Close to seven million visitors a year delight in the discovery of San Antonio's charms.

Since we'll be staying at the Menger Hotel--across the street from The Alamo--we will be in the cultural epicenter of the city. To learn about other attractions, browse some of the following links:
